U14 Match Report 26/2/2012

Dully Vs Apia U14's Premier League at Lambert park

0-5 Loss

Yet another sunny day as we played a very well organized premier league side. The match started and the opposition put us under pressure but we coped well. As time went by, we began to settle, became more confident, shook off the pressure and even created a few scoring opportunities. While the opposition had more possession, we played our game and managed to neutralize them each time they attacked. First half ended scoreless and we had done our job. Second half came and within minutes we conceded a goal after an unforced error. From that moment on we lost our shape and concentration thus the opposition took full advantage of that, scoring 4 more goals. Towards the end of the game we regained our shape and got back into the game but it was too late as the final whistle was blown.

Coaching tip:

Sometimes, we do not need to play “beautiful possession football”. All we need to do is to play simple but quick and always think that “safety comes first”.
