U13 Match Report 11/3/2012

Dulwich Hill Vs Mt. Druitt Rangers

The under 13s were feeling pumped before the game, they had been cooped up due to the rain this week and needed to get some grass under their feet. From the opening whistle they attacked, it was a wonderful display of possesion and creativity - and they created many chances, only denied by soft finishes and great keeping by the Mt. Druitt Goalie. Despite their best defence, Mt. Druitt couldn't hold out the Dully boys, who had been camped in the Rangers half since the start, and after about 10 minutes, the ball found the back of their net from a wonderfully taken strike. Dully weren't done yet, and despite Mt. Druitt lifting a gear, the Dully boys continued to get in behind the defence and were unlucky not to be four or five goals in front. Finally another goal, after a nice bit of passing through the centre, and a final pass slicing the defence to shreds. Half time 2-0 to Dully.

The second half saw Mt. Druitt defend a lot tighter, but they were unable to make much of the possession when they had it. The Dully boys were playing wonderful football, and really supporting each other with plenty of positive talking. Some of the boys were tiring towards the end of the half, and the coach was interchaning them to keep the energy levels on the field as high as possible. It paid off, in the last 10 minutes of the game, Dully were camped deep in the opposition half taking shot after shot at goal. The Mt. Druitt keeper did an amazing job (as did the woodwork on several occasions), but the pressure was too much, and Dully scored a third and final goal, ending the game 3-0.

After the match, the coach only had praise for the team "They played REALLY well". The only area of improvement was that the final pass and shots on goal could have been a bit better.
